Optical measurements using Wedgewood Analytical Brand Products

Endress+Hauser's  Wedgewood Analytical brand products are the pioneering leader in the field of optical sensor technology.  Available in many configurations our products meet a wide variety of industrial specifications including explosion-proof, sanitary, and high temperature requirements. Our optical instruments consist of a sensor housing, monitor, the interconnecting cables and if required, a monitor enclosure. The sensor consists of a light source and one or more detectors to monitor changes in the light caused by the measured material. Wedgewood Analytical brand products can be supplied in many configurations to meet demanding applications.

• Cell growth

The cell growth system is a special application of the solids/absorbance system. The photometer is a special

sanitary designed absorbance probe built for direct insertion into a fermenter. The sensors resilient flow cell is ultra

hygienic and designed to withstand CIP and SIP cleaning cycles. This system uses different pathlengths to measure microbial fermentation or mammalian cell culture applications.

• Bubble detection

The Model 611 and AF13 bubble detection system is a special application of the absorbance monitors. The flowcell was designed with modified optics that include a slanted 45-degree window on the lamp assembly of the flowcell. This slanted window allows the detection of empty pipe conditions. It also utilizes a 950nm optical filter to detect liquid phase variations such as alcohol/water.

Bubble detector transmitter OUM611

Bubble detector sensor OUSAF13

This analyzer is used with a Model OUSAF13 sensor for the detection of bubbles in process liquids and is capable to operate under either AC or DC power conditions

• Turbidity and total suspended solids

Turbidimeters measure the ability of undissolved particles in a process sample to scatter light. In other words, turbidimeters measure the clarity of a liquid. As the number of particles in a sample increases, more light gets

scattered and the turbidity increases.

Turbidity monitor model 670

Flow through low turbidity sensor TF10

The Model 670 turbidity monitor is used with a Model TF10 flow through sensor to measure low levels of non-dissolved solids, emulsions, or immiscible fluids in process liquids.
